Like many of my friends I have said for years that I would not begin my own blog. But here I am, typing the first keystrokes of my very own blog.

I intend to use this as a space to being compiling and sharing some of my thoughts about cycling, the cycling community, travel, history, and perhaps personal philosophy... While I have been keeping various journals for years I have become more and more taken by the social aspects of blogging: sharing thoughts and observations, and putting ones ideas out into the great unknown that is the internets.

If you have just wandered upon this blog, and are not one of my friends that I told to check out my blog as they ridiculed me, I think I can say this about myself:

As a bicycle mechanic living and working in Portland, OR I have an interesting insiders view and opinion about the rich patchwork that composes the cycling community in Portland. As a historian and writer I have a desire to chronicle events, thoughts, and create stories.
Hope some of it will be of interest, if it loses interest to me, I shall shut it down and keep my musings to myself.
